Day of sibling unrivalry

Ok so I have yet to read the entire book or even do more than browse here or there. Seriously Sookie Stackhouses new book is also in my home and fantasy is winning out over my reality of Chidren who have way to much time on their adorable little hands currently. So in the last days I have had so many opportunities to intervene with my children. I think I may have intervened once or twice on accident and out of habit but all in all I have done pretty darn well! Chad and I have both had long gazing looks at each other and in that gaze one tells the other can I please please jump in. We have stayed strong and the end result is my kids got along about 8 hours today. Currently Alexis and Jaden are discussing why Alexis doesn't want him and his buddy in her room with her and her girlfriends. 2 sets of siblings is making staying out of the way extremely difficult. Especially when I hear Mrs. Angie can you please make the boys stay out of Lexi's room??? So I said "Alexis, Jaden, What is my answer to that?" They responded in unison "work it out ourselves. :) "

And they are even though there is wrestling, giggling, stomping, a little arguing along the way. As long as there is no hitting I am out of it. I did here some discussion between my two before they went back to war. All in all I think my children will be A' ok if we follow this book. 8 hours of getting along before dinner. 8 hours people! It's a world record. I couldn't be happier. Once I get a second I will toss a few tid bits up here and there. I am more than happy for them to gain a us against Mom additude. :)

Oh and just for fun I want ya'll to know that the girls did not mind at all using All their weapons. They have said puberty, and period more than once in their defense against the boys invading the room!

HAHA

Oh and the wine business may begin to prosper but who's counting right?

Sibling Rivalry

Now that I have your attention let's talk about it. What do you think when I say sibling rivalry? If you have more than one child I bet you are currently thinking it's 5 o'clock somewhere right?! My 2 oldest only see each other a total of 5 days a month if you count all the hours they are awake for Jaden's wednesday night sleepovers. I repeat only 5 Days a month. After hour 1 on any given day of Jaden's return my home becomes a battlefield. I can always tell when I'm about to be pulled into it because the child who is wronged will respond to the other with a louder than normal voice in hopes that I will jump in and right the wrongs and bring them justice. Well, this month is our month to have both of our kids all month long. I repeat again for dramatic purposes "ALL MONTH LONG"! They have found anything and everything to fight over. They are even fighting over the baby at this point. Once Christian starts talking I know he will join in on the fun of driving Mommy up the wall.

It never ceases to amaze me how Alexis can go to a neighbors house and play nicely and lovingly with other young children who are her brothers age but the moment he gets near her it's game on (and I don't mean monopoly). So, here I am an only child who was raised by my mom sitting in the mist of a family of 5. I think I have spent the last 5 years in culture shock grasping blindly through this strange land not knowing what to do or where to turn. I have always thought what the HELL is wrong with my kids??? Why can't they just get along? Why can't they share nicely? No tattletaling! Is this my punishment for being a tattle tale myself? Oh Mommy needs a glass of wine.

I have gone through Choices. I have gone back to coach. I have a certificate that says I completed the course. I can communicate with my husband now. I can communicate indiviually with my kids. I teach my kids the tools I learned and still they squabble and one up each other. A few days ago Chad and I were talking and had come to the decision we have got to step out of the middle of our children's relationship. Unless there is blood or a broken bone we have got to quit meddling and allowing them to pull us in. But low and behold they always find a way to pull us back in.

So here I am in the mist of craziness ready to pull my hair out when low and behold I found the book. Not just any book. This is the book of all books. It's called Siblings without Rivalry -How to help your Children live Together so you can Live too.

While at B&N yesterday I find this book and toss it in the stroller (the baby was in my arms I swear) along with 6-10 other books and head over to a chair so I can browse through and see if any of this is good. Through my browsing of a raising girls book I learned that Alexis's brain just went through a 2 year growth spurt equal to the growth it did from 6 months to a year old o.O! Wow, if I had only had that information 2 years ago that would have been great thanks. I may go back for that book later because it did have more information about the next 6 years I will need to make sure I let her survive her teen years with guidance instead of over bearing over parenting.

Then after Chad takes a fussy Christian out of my hearing range I get a chance to look at the book of the most interest to me Siblings without Rivalry. As I browse through this book I come to the conclusion that this woman has followed my children and I around and wrote a book that should be titled -How not to end up like The Meyer household. I was like OH MY GOSH!!!

This book is awesome. I have yet to read all of it but I have skimmed it like crazy and a lot of the unhelpful responses you can give your kids I do automatically. Apparently by even saying So, what do you want me to do about it? Or anything along those lines is causing more stress on their relationship. Have you ever said "can't you guys just get along", or "I don't care who started it, I want it ended" or "Your too old for these toys. Give them to your brother or sister." Then you need this book! I will update you to let you know how I do with my new learning tool.

Cloth Diapers are sooo cute

I am quickly becoming a cloth diaper addict. I wish I were better at sewing because then this addiction could at least bring in some cash. I just ordered some of the cutest rumparoos off of squishy tushy. How can you not want to cloth diaper with names like that. OK so cloth diapering isn't always cuteness and fun and games. Sometimes someone puts the diaper on backwards (no names here.. rhymes with mex) and your flips flop. Or you go to use your sprayer and the hose pops off and you end up with a lake of water at your feet. But in the end we have saved more money cloth diapering. Not to mention that our little one loves being in his clothes.
Stay tuned for pictures of C-Man in his little firetruck diapers. CUTE!

The weekend just flew by

This weekend was really nice. We didn't have many plans so we were able to just lounge around the house most of the weekend. Christian was gassy and fussy Saturday and Sunday even with his little ones gas medicine. (Didn't know gripe water would work well for gas - thx Angie. I will be prepared next time.)

He didn't slept much and sounded like a little Ewok while he was sleeping lol. He is so precious even when he sleeps. We also hired a dog sitter for the first time ever (Our neighbors are all probably relieved). I love being a first paying gig. Our dogs will be well taken care of while we are on vacation. Now time to get the energy to start my job back up. Cleaning seems to be a full time job and I am thankful my husband has been taking care of it while I was down.

Saturday we missed stretch for the first time in a long long time. It felt like we missed out on the biggest party of the year. :) Stretch is always the best party around hands down. We did get to see a lot of our Choices Family for dinner Saturday night though. It was awesome to see everyone and watch them ooh and aww over our boy. For those we didn't get to see we miss you and hope to see you next stretch. We will be there and possibly with bells on. You never know with me.

It looks like my little one is finally feeling better today and catching up with all his sleep he lost this weekend.

Lex and Jaden have spring break at their other parents house this year so our Florida trip will be just Chad, Christian, and I. The funny thing is Alexis will be in Florida as well with her Dad just in a different part while we are there.

Well I better get busy the day is already half way gone. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!!

It's Friday yay!

Time to start the blog back up. Bringing it up to speed. Sweet little Christian Jeffrey Meyer was born February 18, 2010 at 9:36 am. He is the center of all our worlds now. Both his brother and sister just adore him as much as we do.

He is 2 weeks and 1 day old today. We didn't do much today. I put on our baby carrier my sister in law gave us and put Christian in it. We vacuumed the floor together. I think he enjoyed cleaning. He was asleep within a minute or so.

We didn't leave the house today since I am finally listening to all the bossy people around me telling me to take it easy. We had a visit from Mark and Cheryl our neighbors. They brought Christian 2 of the most adorable little outfits.

Not long after they left our next door neighbors Dave, Beth, and their son Bryce came over and brought us dinner. It was a really good taco ring.

One of these days my body is going to decide I am better and I won't have to fear doing to much work. Hopefully soon. I am sure once I am bogged down in cleaning, dirty laundry, and poopie diapers I will be wishing for the days when I was forced to lay around.

Can't wait for dinner with our Choices family tomorrow night. :)
